The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition published a study about the effects of Forskolin on the body composition in moderately overweight women. Twenty-three women were given the exact same dosage as the male subjects received for the same amount of time. However, the results were not as favorable as the men’s study. There were no differences in their fat mass and body fat percentage. The female subjects, however, did report feeling energetic and less hungry. In conclusion, Forskolin did not promote weight loss in women, but did prove to safely prevent them from gaining weight.
One theory as to why Forskolin may have worked for men and not for women is that the extract raised testosterone levels in men. Increased testosterone levels can help burn fat.
